The Origin
Near the end of 2007, William stumbled upon the videos of brothers Hank and John Green. They were finishing a year long project called Brotherhood 2.0 in which the brothers ceased all textual communication and would talk to one another only through phone calls and video blogs. Their reasons for doing this were, partially because they had lost touch with each other over the years, life had gotten in the way. What they found through the project, was how close they actually still were. They also discovered a legion of people who had followed them through the year and formed bonds of their own. These followers, called Nerdfighters, discovered their own way to form bonds.
So, William looked at the members of the 5 Regular Guys and noticed that they were going in the same direction. Life had them all going in different directions. William got in touch with everyone else in the group, and formed a plan. Several of them were down with the plan, so they stared the 5 Regular Guys Project.
The Project
Beginning January 1st, 2008, William made a video blog introducing the project. Then, another member would make a video the next day, and another member the next. This would continue through the week until each member had made a video, and the process would start all over. The idea was to create video blogs or short sketches during the week, then several group members would get together on the weekends to make short films or music videos.
The project goes well. There is an occasional lapse, but for the most part the guys have continued to upload videos daily.
